Mac binary signed

I downloaded the MacOS package from and followed the instructions in

However, upon running bin/searchd I get this dialog from MacOS:

“searchd” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.

I believe this is from Gatekeeper. I’m a MacPorts user though; otherwise, Homebrew installation would be an alternative method for me.

Are the MacOS packages not signed?

Hi. Yes, not signed. We don’t yet actually provide packages for MacOS, just binaries.

Here are two things that can help:

  • Add an exception for Manticore apps:
    • In the Finder locate the app you want to open: searchd, indexer etc.
    • Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu
    • Click Open
The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it or from cli, just as you can with any authorised app
  • Or you can use our official docker image

Thanks @Sergey. Is there a possibility that a signed version be released in the future?

Sure, we should eventually pack that as a .dmg and sign it properly. It’s just that not many people are using Manticore on Mac and there’s also HomeBrew.

Cool. Thanks, @Sergey!
