I know that it is impossible at the moment. Index should be detached from a cluster before it can be altered.
Is there a chance to implement this feature in the future, so that we can add/drop columns without detaching indexes from a cluster? It would be very useful! We have large indexes which are added to the cluster (after altering) slowly and this causes downtime in our production environment.
